Randy enjoys exploring the intersection of the physical and life sciences with computer science and applied mathematics. Before joining Indiana University's Pervasive Technology Labs, Randy was a senior research scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois working in the Visualization and Virtual Environments group. Prior to NCSA, he was a computer scientist at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Lab at the DOE Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Randy has extensive experience with the visualization and analysis of large, complex scientific datasets. In the 1980s, he worked at Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, IL, and later at the Center for Industrial Research (now SINTEF) in Oslo, Norway. He has had the pleasure of working alongside researchers investigating applications in bioinformatics, computational fluid dynamics, computational chemistry, molecular modeling, medical imaging, dynamical systems, and computer-aided geometric design. Heiland is a member of SIAM, IEEE, and the MAA.

Jennifer brings substantial experience in communications and business development. Her earlier work includes desktop publishing of technical manuals and marketing materials, video production for sales and training, report preparation, and project management in a manufacturing industry. She also has experience as the director of business development and marketing for a consortium of Indiana machine shops.
